What Do You Do?

What do you do when you have so many unfinished projects started but you don’t know where to pick up. Or even know if you want to do any of them. How do you pick one and get started? Do you just let out a loud moan, close your eyes, and grab one? Do you start organizing by making lists? Do you completely ignore the load and go do something fun?

For the past two weekends prior than last weekend we have done just that. Ran to Kanab and hiked around the desert one weekend. Then to Delta and hiked some more. Of course we were practicing our filming techniques. We also talked about our plans. Last weekend we  began sewing our dodger. We had spent a total of 40 hours on it in just 2 days and it was looking nice. We actually had impressed our selves. Then came the time to put all the pieces together, minus the two side pieces, and see if it would fit on the frame.

At first it fit. Everything was sliding into place with a minimal pushing, pulling and stretching. PS…Seamark doesn’t stretch much. We got it all in place and it appeared to fit well. Surprising our selves again. We took off the frame and put it away for the night. Happy and excited for the next day we would put the sides on and all will be good in the universe.

The next morning Jes went to work and Sam called on his mom to come help put the dang thing together. He just couldn’t wait any longer. We were so close to having another project done with out any big disaster. Everything, and I mean everything had lined up perfectly until this point. They carefully put it together, and the last panel ended up being an inch and a half off. Now this doesn’t seem like much but, it could be disastrous. Sam put the dodger in the spare bedroom, where we are keeping all the boat projects. The look in his eyes was of worry and dollar signs. If there is one thing in this life he hates more than anything its wasting money.

That was 3 days ago. The weather has been cold and windy. The skies dark and dreary. We haven’t wanted to test the waters and see if one and a half inches will make or break the dodger. But here we are, Saturday, and it is a beautiful sunny Saturday. The birds are chirping, as I sit here typing and sipping my coffee, I am ready. I am ready to just grab the unfinished project and see where we are. Ready to face the realities of an amateur seamstress and seamster. Here’s too hoping
